Violin

Dr. Tim Jones is a Wichita native who serves as Associate Concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Professor of Violin at Wichita State University. He holds degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education. Timothy has performed as both soloist and concertmaster with ensembles in North and South America. He first earned a permanent position with the Wichita Symphony at age 17, and in later years assumed orchestral leadership roles including Principal Violin II of the San Luis Obispo Symphony (California) and Guest Concertmaster of the Newport Symphony Orchestra (Oregon).

In addition to his orchestral career, Timothy is an educator of students of all ages, and an advocate and devoted performer of chamber music. Timothy participated in several non-traditional musical projects such as the Zeitgeist New Music Ensemble and the Broadview Experimental Improvisation Ensemble, in addition to bringing a wide range of works for violin and piano to the stage. In recital, Timothy enjoys exposing audiences to lesser-known masterpieces from the string repertoire such as Szymanowski’s Mythes (1915) and George Rochberg’s Caprice Variations (1970).

Violin

Linette Gordon is an active performer and teacher in the Wichita community.  Her education includes a BM and MM in performance from Wichita State University and the University of Houston.  Linette has been a member of the 1st Violin Section of the Wichita Symphony since 2002, and performed in the 1st violin section of several professional orchestras in the Houston area during her graduate studies. During her education, she was an active chamber musician performing in multiple string quartets.  Linette also participated in summer music festivals across the country and abroad, including Eastern Music Festival, the Texas Music Festival, the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival, Musicorda Chamber Music Festival, and the Las Vegas Music Festival where she performed with a number of string quartets and piano trios who were coached by professors from Rice, Oberlin, and the New England Conservatory, among others.


Linette was previously an adjunct faculty member at Friends University and also served as a section coach for the Wichita Youth Orchestras program.  Currently, she maintains her own private studio, ranging from beginning students to advanced. Linette has performed in countless weddings and events for the last 20 years, and loves to  be able to enhance these memorable ceremonies along with her colleagues.

Viola

Dr. Lillian Green is an Assistant Professor of Music at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.  She performs frequently as a chamber player, orchestral musician, and soloist in the central Kansas area and elsewhere around the country, and has played concerts across Europe and southeast Asia. Her performances in the last few years have included solo and chamber concerts as a faculty member of the Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy; recitals with the Central Kansas Piano Quartet; alternative styles performances with the Switchgrass Quartet; and a chamber recital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

Lillian earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Viola Performance and a Master's degree in Music Theory Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Victoria Chiang.  Previously she earned a Master's degree in Viola Performance from the University of Delaware, and her undergraduate degree in Music Education is from West Virginia University.

Cello

Quinn Lake is a multifaceted musician who is equally comfortable in Baroque ensemble and a rock band. Quinn has performed with the Wichita Symphony and Wichita Grand Opera Orchestras since 2004, as well as with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for one season. She is a founding member of Wichita Baroque, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Jackson, MI; Hays, KS; Wichita, KS, and at Carnegie Hall. She is also an in-demand studio musician—her playing can be heard on rock albums, in podcasts, documentaries and more. A  passionate music educator, Quinn maintains a full-time private studio. 


Quinn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI), and a Master’s in Cello Performance from Wichita State University. During her studies, she studied music for a semester at the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, Austria, and has attended festivals across the USA and Europe.


Quinn has earned awards including First Prize in ASTA’s Statewide Solo Competition (Kansas), First Prize in the Institute for European Studies - Vienna’s Chamber Music Competition, First Prize in the Wolf-Bing Chamber Music Competition, and First Prize in MTNA’s Statewide Chamber Music Competition (Kansas).
